“When the Motor Stops” is a hauntingly beautiful and sobering look of the empty streets of Detroit during the height of the 2020 pandemic. Filmed in black and white and entirely solo, Zeke Anders assembled a meticulous piece of work (directing, shooting and editing) accompanied by a brilliant script penned by Executive Creative Director, Michael Stelmaszek of Doner. Olivia Hill, then copywriter at Doner lent her voice and orchestrating this entire endeavor was strategist, Alex DeMuth. “Stay Safe, Detroit” gets everything right. It is the flat-out masterpiece, the first pandemic commercial to qualify as a beautiful work of art”, says the San Francisco Chronicle. This film gained critical acclaim and was shared, reposted, and featured in stories around the world.
