REI’s “#optoutside” (commercial)
In 2022 REI continued their #optoutside campaign with the goal of making the outdoors inclusive regardless of race, gender identity or ethnicity. Director Courtney Sofiah Yates collaborated with Stept and REI’s Creative teams to build out a spot that represents a world on camera that inspires and enables life outdoors for everyone. Every year REI pairs each #optoutside campaign with closing their stores on Black Friday to encourage people to spend time together connecting with nature. Courtney helped shape this message into an emotional experience that inspires hope and gratitude for for a space for all of us to enjoy ourselves outside. The campaign still sits at the top of REI’s website.
