HARLEM FRAGMENTS [$93K SHORT FILM – DIRECTORIAL DEBUT]
LOGLINE: An Afro-futurist-surrealist storytelling of a Harlem Black family’s beautiful destruction during the 2008 recession. A natural disaster so mesmerizing it’s hard to look away from the tragedy.
This is a short excerpt per direction from my Directorial Debut HARLEM FRAGMENTS after I pitched Fujifilm on the script I developed, wrote and produced. My directing experience culminated from the six films I’ve Produced, Assistant Directed and Executive Produced in the last year, alongside my production skills from my six years in advertising at creative agencies BBDO and Wieden Kennedy—
As brief overview – HARLEM FRAGMENTS is an intentional, vulnerable story that’s based on my family, and shot in the brownstone we lost in our divorce—
While the story is extremely close to me, it’s meant for speaking to the larger Black community as a whole to improve both parents and children’s experiences alike, around normalizing processing vulnerable experiences, that are so often hidden under the rug and not addressed or discussed within our communities. It’s my goal to continue iconically putting Harlem on the filmmaking map, just as Spike did for Brooklyn.
