A Mother comes to America with her sister’s last gift: an English-Chinese Dictionary.
My Mother’s voice will narrate her journey to America as we will see real-life footage mixed with abstract representations of the hardships she went through during her immigration.
We hope to use archival photos of her in China during the Cultural Revolution, her journey to America, and how she is now to show an entire journey and a trek through time.
My mother and I are close but there is so much to be learned. She had to send me back to grow up in China so she can make a living here. I came back she had lost her job and went back to China to find work. It was a personal thank you to my Mother. To let her know her struggles were worth it and her children appreciate it more than she knows.
I love her and while I don’t truly know her, I want to learn everything. She has so much story I need to tell. So much I need to learn myself
