“The Wolf” (short film)
a short film written and directed by Leah Loftin
original music by Nathan Halpern
In 1905, a mother mourns the loss of her daughter to influenza. Trapped in the home with her threatening husband, she seeks an escape from her pain.
As Loftin’s directorial debut, THE WOLF was created with limited resources during the time of COVID. THE WOLF was inspired by historical accounts of pandemics of the past, particularly the experience of mothers, and how we were suddenly in the midst of history repeating itself yet again.
Within the past year, THE WOLF has screened at over a dozen festivals across the globe, including New Filmmakers NY at Anthology Film Archives (NYC), Berlin Flash Film Festival (Best Super Short Drama), London’s Shorts on Tap, Asti International Film Festival (Italy – Best Actress nomination), Romania’s Short to the Point, Toronto Women International Film Festival (Best Historical Drama nomination), among many others.
