Ruben Latre

The Conductor

Ruben Latre

How did you get into directing?
I was working in postproduction for awhile and a friend of mine knew a band that wanted a music video. Knowing my work in post, he asked me to direct the video with him. That became my first super low budget music video.

What is your most recent project?
Music video for artist Martha Wash. Song “I’ve Got You”. The video is shot in black and white and filmed at The Hanover Theatre in Worcester, Massachusetts.

What is the best part of being a director?
I am still looking for it.

Have you a mentor and if so, who is that person (or persons)
and what has been the lesson learned from that mentoring which resonates most with you?

I teach myself. It’s an autodidactic process of making a thousand mistakes and learning from my own mistakes.
